The Boston Region MPO has identified household characteristics that strongly influence the transportation resources to which household members have access. Understanding these characteristics helps staff discern travel patterns and the transportation needs of residents.
Click on the tabs below to view, by census tract, the percent of households that represent low-income residents, female-headed families, and residents who do not own a vehicle. Low-income households include those whose annual income is $45,624 or less (60 percent of the region’s median household income). Female-headed households are those headed by a woman with children and no spouse present. Zero-vehicle households are those in which the household members do not own or lease an automobile for personal use.
